FINALLY! SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Whew, after about two or three months of low activity, I finally got the motivation to draw a new picture. Although it is another distraction from other projects I have started so long ago, it is still a traditional hand-made piece done with patience, attention, vellum paper, and Prismacolor brand pens and pencils. I must apologize for all the mistakes I've made while drawing this piece, it has been so long. Now to explain what this is...

This is my second naga queen; I liked my first one so much that I thought about making a another one. Of course, I have to make my second queen different from the first. Whereas the first naga queen I made has a generalized desert design with a kind personality, I wanted to make this one a Medieval European ruler with a more malicious disposition. I figure her kingdom's culture should be based on the Gothic Period, to identify this, I added a stained glass window with a pointed arch in the background. Her outfit is identical to the desert queen's outfit in that it only has two parts and is very revealing. To differentiate it, I gave it more complex shapes and fewer colors. Also unlike the desert naga queen, this one actually has a known name. The following is a brief and arguably unpolished fictional biography.

Her name is Anlica. She was raised by nomadic nagas who have been condemned by many other species. These serpents survive well on their own, adopting many useful habits for hunting, foraging, travel, and combat. The serpents are also profound in many areas of discipline including art, magic, history, and many other "scholarly" pursuits. The only thing that threatens their existence is the hostility they receive from the species that resent them. Young Anlica tried to retain tolerance of such treatment, that was until the fateful day when she was captured by knights of the Hound Kingdom. The hound monarch, King Ralon, threatened to sacrafice Anlica to the hounds' guardian deity, Fenrir, unless the serpents agreed to leave the continent forever. As expected by her kind, Anlica refused this fate. Using a life's worth of intense training, Anlica escaped the hounds' dungeon then fought her way out of hound borders. Anlica was alive, albeit seriously injured. She has consequently gained a vendetta against the hounds and thus would not rest until justice was served by serpentine hands. After a few years of recovery and preparation, Anlica lead an elite group of naga warriors to infiltrate the Hound Kingdom and initiate a coup. The coup ended when the naga warriors and their allies slayed Fenrir and Anlica delivered a single bite to King Ralon's neck. Ralon's death was shortly followed by the collapse of the Hound Kingdom; many survivors were driven to the Black Woods and haven't been heard from since. The nagas were now free to established a new kingdom for themselves where they can prosper in peace. The name of the new kingdom became "Scallor", a vast country complete with farmland, villages, and a brilliant capital city to rein over it all. Since she expressed a grand sense of courage and leadership, it only seemed logical to appoint Anlica as the queen.
Queen Anlica is described as being malicious. Her law may be firm yet fair, but her personality is dark, mysterious, and often times flirtatious. It is believed that she inherited those traits from her mother, and they surfaced after enduring the stress imposed upon her. Nevertheless Queen Anlica is a sane and justified monarch...at least, she is to her people. The queen has no dominant talent, rather she possesses multiple great talents. Anlica is known for being skilled at dancing, sewing, archery, melee combat with various blades, and magical alchemy. She may be skilled with many blades, but her favorite blade is the custom rapier she carries with all of her outfits. Anlica's sorcery skills are more enigmatic though. She claims to have used alchemy to craft two special potions that have been successfully tested on herself, but the nature of these potions was never exposed to anyone. Scallan pride has little tolerance for foreign visitors, but if Queen Anlica likes you, then you are welcome within Scallor's borders.

ARTIST'S NOTE:
The biography is subject to change, as this is part of a new series I am just now starting to develop.
